Free Resources to get you started

We all need to start somewhere, but sometimes this can be difficult to figure out on our own. So, here are some FREE resources to help you practice new habits and build upon work you've already started at home.

Resources

Free Educational Handouts

Handy Handouts is a great website with tons of different tools, exercises and worksheets for both kids and parents that help with any educational, speech or language delays. Each area is separated to ensure maximum ease in finding the right tools to help with your child's communication goals.

Language Delay & Disorder
Support

Dealing with Language Delays & Disorders can feel super overwhelming and even isolating. At the DLD Project and RADLD you'll find articles and tools to help you normalize this common difficulty. They offer a ton of support and training, as well as access to a community so that you know you are not alone.

Voice & Resonance Support

Voice & Resonance disorders affect how we sound. This section of the Albertan Healthcare website details out what these disorders look like. It also explains which resources and exercises you can use at home to protect and improve how your child uses their voice.

Swallowing & Feeding

Swallowing & feeding difficulties come from a myriad of different causes and can affect all ages from infancy to adulthood. Find some tips, tricks and support for infant through toddler age-range difficulties at Pediatric Feeding. The National Foundation of Swallowing Disorders also offers resources, videos, support communities and more for families and individuals struggling with this difficulty.

Speech Sound Exercises

Mommy Speech Therapy is a website created by RSLP, Heidi Hanks. On her site you'll find great at-home practice exercises that you can do with your child to work on their specific speech or language delays.

Fluency & Stuttering

Stuttering can be very challenging to live with and understand; often it is a life-long condition that requires the right kind of support and tools to manage, but that's ok. Both the CSA (Canadian Stuttering Association) and The Stuttering Foundation have great resources to help you learn more about it from a scientific perspective and offer encouragement along the way.

Literacy & Pre-literacy

Some children have a greater difficulty learning when it comes to literacy - literacy refers to anything to do with reading or writing. There are ways that you as a parent can help along the way. At Smart Speech Therapy and Speech & Language Kids by the SLP Solution you can find amazing tools and at-home exercises to make sure you and your child are in the best position possible to work on their literacy skills.
